CARTESIAN HOUSE

This passive solar home was designed to nestle into its site by following the site's contours resulting in existing tree preservation. Upon arrival at the wooded east sloping site one proceeds from Forecourt to Entry Court. The mountains emerge from a framed opening into a panoramic view. Between two fireplaces one enters the transparent volume of the Living Room. The spine of the house becomes a container of services as it moves from public pavilion to hermitage in the Master Bath; a gallery from which to view the seasons and the northern mountain range.

You can read more about this house in the winter 2010 edition of Carolina Home and Garden.
